Well I've been playing alot latley trying to get a rank of Lt. but to get there I need to get 10 skill. I currently have 8, and to be honst I have no idea how i got that. At first i thought you have to win 2 games to gain 1 skill but then i relized that wasnt right. I'm playing in team slayer ranked matches so can anyone help?
How do I gain a skill point in Halo 3 matchmaking?
your skill point isn't your rank its the big white number before your rank its says like 8 then your rank (corporal, lieutenant) so you just have to keep winning ranked matches until the number goes up and your highest skill is the higest number you got to, dont worry about losing, it wont bring it down it is the highest u have ever been not your current rank.
Reply:Skill levels are gained if you win a number of matches. But I'm not sure how many. But if you get last place 2 games in a row, you lose a skill lvl; your Skill level goes down by one.

I'm not being a smartass, I swear. The Bungie systems are really good at telling whether you were useful in your game or not, and if you were you'll continue going up in level. I've kinda peaked out at 41 myself but I'm about to get going again on trying to raise it.
