Last summer the nephrologist for my wife persuaded my wife for dialysis and kidney transplant thereafter.?

I offered my kidney as prospective kidney donor. The ultrasound revealed that my kidney was normal and the nephrologist suggested matchmaking. But since my wife was neither agreeable to dialysis nor transplant, the matchmaking was not performed. Now my question is that if in future she agrees for transplant are there any kidney banks like blood banks and can my kidney be exchanged with the kidney whose matchmaking tallies with kideny of my wife in case matchmaking of our kidneys does not tally. If it is so, the addresses of such kidney banks may please be let known to me. Thanks

No, there are no kidney banks. This is why people go on waiting lists. If the nephrologist recommended dialysis and your wife has refused, you may not need to worry about a transplant. Why doesn't she want dialysis? Does she realize that if she doesn't do dialysis that the toxins in her blood are going to build up and make her feel very sick and that she will become (if she isn't already) anemic? Does she realize that it is much better to be on dialysis and be somewhat healthy so that when she needs the transplant, that she'll have a greater chance of recovery?

The best donors for your wife are sisters and brothers, after that it's parents and other relatives. A non-relative can donate even if they aren't the same blood type. If they aren't a good match, there are other ways of swapping for a good match.

Reply:Maybe she is afriad. My son's transplant went very well. He is 12 years old. He was up and around faster than I was. I was his donor.

Good luck! Report It

Reply:I'm not a doctor but I have a daughter who was diagnosed as nephrotic at age 3. She's 15 now and lives a normal life. You should bring your wife to the Phil. Kidney Center so that she can be assessed medically if indeed she needs a kidney transplant or not at all. From there also, you will be apprised what to do. I hope %26amp; pray your wife gets well. You are a devoted husband and you trully love her. You should be rewarded for your unselfish love %26amp; devotion. God bless.
