In halo 3 matchmaking can four people play?

I tried four people and it said that one was not allowed. Is it just the name or is it that only three people can play at once?

In social you can get well over 4 players in a party. In ranked it is limited depended on the game type; for instance, Lone Wolves is only 1 person. In social if you want to play with ONLY four people you can do social doubles which will pit two of you against the other two with no others to ruin your play.
Reply:You were probably playing in Ranked Games. Try it in Social. Up to 10 members in a party can fit in Social Slayer and 16 can fit in Big Team Battle
